The First Year Experience is designed to help first year students transition to college life at Missouri S&T. The First Year Experience offers programs that help students achieve academic success and adjust to the personal and professional challenges of college life. These programs provide students an orientation to academic skills development and connect students with many beneficial resources that are available to them within the Missouri S&T community.

All Missouri S&T departments are encouraged to provide freshman and transfer students with ample opportunity to become acquainted with their department and faculty. Departments are encouraged to offer students strategies for academic success, including guides to coping with time management, study skills development, and note-taking and test-taking techniques.
