Get a head start on your academic experience at Missouri S&T with Hit the Ground Running (HGR), a fast-paced and informative three-week program for select incoming S&T students.

Through HGR, you’ll build your learning skills, see all that campus life has to offer, learn about university research, get involved in team-building and leadership projects, make new friends, and discover your path to academic success at S&T.

And you’ll do it all while living on campus and earning 3 credit hours through courses in Mathematics, Communication, and Student Success.

The HGR Advantage

HGR students are among our most successful. For example, in 2018:

  • 85% of students who studied trigonometry during HGR earned credit through their performance on the trig placement exam at the end of HGR.
  • 22 of the 57 students who studied algebra during HGR moved up from their initial algebra placement, either by earning credit or a waiver.
