Second Year Experience Programs

The second year of college is a challenging time for students, who are often at a crossroads in making academic, career, and life decisions. Second-year college students tend to struggle with achieving competence, establishing identity, developing autonomy, and developing purpose (Boivin, Fountain, and Baylis 2000). Many feel disconnected from the university and the community in which they live. The Second Year Experience Program seeks to connect second-year students with existing campus resources and to develop new programs to help them succeed.
